Meet Dr. Kane

Dr. Kane grew up in the Detroit- area, the son, nephew and grandson of M.D.s. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit. Dr. Kane’s prerequisite plastic surgery training was 5 years in duration at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota and resulted in board certification in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery in 1993. He then did a 2 year fellowship in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Mayo Clinic and became board certified in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 1996. At the completion of his training, Dr. Kane was invited to join the faculty in the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, and as Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery he maintained a clinical surgical practice and taught at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine from 1994-1997.

In 1997, Dr. Kane returned to the State of Michigan joining a large plastic surgery group in Grand Rapids. In 1999, Dr. Kane accepted an appointment and brought the specialty of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery to Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey. His office is in the Burns Professional Building (formerly Burns Clinic) which is attached to the hospital.

Dr. Kane has full staff privileges and has served as Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital and is actively involved in numerous hospital committees and initiatives to continuously look for ways to improve safety and quality in the hospital environment.

Dr. Kane is actively involved in and has previously participated with a number of plastic surgery/medical care initiatives designed to bring expertise and needed care in developing countries around the world including Helps International, Operation Smile and Surgical Medical and Relief Teams (S.M.A.R.T.).

Dr. Kane is married to Dr. Laurie Kane M.D. Endocrinologist who also practices in Petoskey.

Dr. Kane specializes in cosmetic procedures to enhance and rejuvenate the face, breast and body. He also has advanced training and experience in the realm of complex reconstruction procedures often necessary in the treatment of skin, breast and melanoma treatment, burns and trauma and complex post-surgical wounds.
